COURSE OVERVIEW
A 2016 survey revealed that 87% of millennials consider professional development crucial, alongside career growth opportunities. Additionally, 76% of employees expressed a desire for more personal growth opportunities. In today’s workplace, effective coaching and mentoring are essential to enhancing productivity, engagement, innovation, and achieving balance in both work and life. This course introduces participants to the core principles of Co-Active coaching and mentoring, equipping them with practical skills to support and develop talent successfully.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of this course, participants will:

  • Gain a clear understanding of coaching, its purpose, and importance.
  • Develop strong professional coaching skills, including:
    • Designing effective coaching alliances
    • Applying the ABCs of Coaching
    • Learning to champion, guide, motivate, and hold accountable the coachee, while understanding the distinctions between these approaches
  • Master the three levels of Co-Active Listening
  • Understand what coaching is and isn’t
  • Identify and set up a coaching agenda and sessions effectively
  • Leverage the power of environment and geography in coaching
  • Ensure both coach and coachee are set up for success consistently

TARGET AUDIENCE
This program is designed for managers and leaders who are responsible for implementing coaching and mentoring practices to develop performance and talent across all levels of an organization.

TRAINING METHODOLOGY
This practical, results-oriented program is grounded in adult learning principles. It combines short, inspiring lectures with structured lessons from the learning manual, engaging PowerPoint presentations with videos, interactive discussions, action planning, and Q&A sessions. Participants will reinforce learning through role-plays, scenarios, group activities, self-assessments, and collaborative presentations. Pre- and post-course assessments are used to measure training effectiveness.

Module 1 – Amazing Alliances

  • The ABCs of effective coaching: “Always Be Curious / Always Be Connecting”
  • Identifying and adhering to the coaching agenda
  • The four pillars of Co-Active coaching
  • The GROW model and differences between Co-Active and GROW approaches

Module 2 – How Coaching and Mentoring Work
Key Topics:

  • The coach as a partner in helping others achieve personal and professional goals
  • The 1:1 coaching process
  • Preparing for coaching sessions: responsibilities of both coach and coachee
  • Activities and dynamics during each session
  • The coach’s role in offering perspectives and auditing progress
  • Providing advice, guiding goal-setting, and supporting balanced decision-making

Module 3 – Coaching in Practice

  • Establishing expectations for both coach and coachee
  • Coaching other coaches and embedding coaching within organizational policy
  • Ensuring accountability and commitment from employees
  • Developing coaching communication skills
  • Building empathy and effectively addressing coachee concerns

Module 4 – Mentoring in Practice

  • Understanding mentorship and how it differs from coaching
  • Defining expectations for mentor and mentee
  • Encouraging accountability and commitment to mentoring
  • Strengthening mentoring communication skills
  • Responding effectively to mentee challenges

Module 5 – Implementing Coaching and Mentoring Policies and Processes

  • Embedding coaching as an organizational policy
  • Developing formats for policies, processes, and communication strategies
  • Best practices for launching coaching and mentoring programs
  • Defining the confidential relationship between manager and coachee
  • Initiating and concluding coaching/mentoring agreements
